When you use Expense Tracker, we collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: Email address, name, and profile picture when you register or sign in with Google
- Financial Data: Expense entries, categories, amounts, dates, currencies, notes, and budget settings you create within the App
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the Expense Tracker service
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Process and categorize your expenses, including AI-powered categorization
- Generate spending summaries, analytics, and budget tracking
- Send verification codes and important account notifications
- Improve and optimize the App features and performance
3. AI Processing
AI categorization is always enabled, expense title is sent to our AI processing service to determine the most appropriate category. This data is used solely for categorization purposes and is not stored by the AI provider beyond the processing request.
You can add expenses manually without AI categorization at any time.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on our servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure password hashing, and token-based API authentication.
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share limited data with:
- AI Service Providers: Expense title for automated categorization
- Analytics Providers: Anonymous usage data for App improvement (Firebase Analytics)
- Email Service Providers: Your email address for sending verification codes and notifications
6. Data Export and Portability
You can export your expense data at any time using the in-app export feature. Exported data is provided in a standard spreadsheet format for your convenience and portability.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data and financial records from our active systems within 30 days.
Some anonymized data may be retained for analytical purposes after account deletion.
8. Cookies and Tracking
The web application uses essential cookies for session management and security. We use Firebase Analytics in the mobile app for anonymous usage statistics.
9. Children's Privacy
Expense Tracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. The updated policy will be effective upon posting.
